Today, July 13, 2019, the Spotsylvania Volunteer Fire Department, along with the Spotsylvania Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Management, placed the new Tower 1 into service. Per tradition, the firemen hose down the new truck and, together, push the truck into the bay to signify that it is ready to be placed in service. On February 13, 2019 the Spotsylvania community lost a leader, and a great part of the firefighter community. On June 1st units were dispatched to 10301 Edenton Rd in Partlow for a structure fire. Luckily no one was hurt but a known legend in the Partlow community lost his moped. Moped Eddie’s means of transportation had burnt in the garage of the home. Norman Brooks Memorial Fund Scholarship Winner Gavin Richards Heads to Camp

Back in February a young man by the name of Gavin Richards was the first person to ever be awarded The Norman Brooks Memorial Scholarship. This young man has dedicated a lot of his spare time to helping around Fire Company 4 and at many of Spotsylvania Volunteer Fire Department events. He has shown quite an interest in the fire service. On June 2 2019 12 new SVFD firefighters graduated from the 2018/2019 Spotsylvania Fire Academy . These men and women started an academy that began on September 11th and concluded last Sunday. These 12 individuals will be assigned to stations 1 (Courthouse) and 4 (Four Mile Fork) and will begin serving their communities. Join us in congratulating these new firefighters.

Chief Norman Douglas Brooks, Sr.

Norman Douglas “Bug” Brooks, Sr., 65, of Spotsylvania passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2019.

Mr. Brooks was the epitome of a "Firefighters Fireman.” He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, friend, Chief and Community Servant. His hunting buddies knew Mr. Brooks as “Skinny Tire.”
